Dry Flies Nymphs / Wet Flies Streamers

Fly of the Week

Brassie

Recipe

Hook:Size 18 Tiemco 2457 scud hook. Pretty much any small nymph hook will work great
Thread:Black 8/0
Abdomen:Copper wire
Thorax:Peacock herl
Notes:From Warren - First, start your thread and bring it back to the bend of the hook. Then tie in the copper wire, and then bring the thread back up to about 3/4 the way up the shank. Next, wind the copper wire up the shank, tie off with the thread, and snip off the wire. You may need to "smooth" the wire with your fingernail so the snipped end lays flat next to the hook shank. Now tie in the peacock herl, and make a few wraps behind the hook eye. Tie off the herl, trim it off, and then tie the head of your fly.

You can tie a number of variations with different color wire (I've seen olive, red and black wire at Cabelas), dubbing or ostrich herl for the thorax, or use a bead head.
