Wood Turtle Survey at Mazeppa Creek
May 28 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
The unique and rare wood turtle has been found in the Mazeppa Creek Aquatic Management Area where MNTU will begin construction on a stream improvement project later this month.
Wood turtles are a State Threatened species and are protected under Minnesota Statute 84.095, Protection of Threatened and Endangered Species.
Although our construction contractors will follow MNDNR guidance on avoiding this species, out of an abundance of caution, MNTU would like to complete a survey and remove any wood turtles from the project area prior to breaking ground. We could use your help!
WHEN: Tuesday May 28 @ 9 am.
Location: We will meet on the upstream end of the stream project, located on Wabasha County Road 7. (Mazeppa Creek Aquatic Management Area in Google Maps will bring you to the right location).
Bring: Water, sturdy footwear, tick/sun protection.
