Action alert: Speak up for roadless areas
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently proposed to rescind the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule, which protects 45 million acres of national forest land from new road construction and large-scale logging.
The federal roadless rule prevents major development on some of the last undeveloped stretches of public forests. These roadless areas are the last strongholds for native trout and salmon, providing clean water, key habitat and recreation opportunities. In addition to protecting many of the storied trout waters across the western U.S., the roadless rule protects 62,000 acres in the Superior National Forest bordering the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
Join us in opposing the rescission of this rule. You have until Monday, September 21 to submit comments.
