VOTE YES FOR THE OUTDOORS IN NOVEMBER’S ELECTION
On this year’s November ballot you have the opportunity to vote to renew the state constitutional amendment that directs lottery proceeds be placed in the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF) and used to fund the protection, preservation, conservation, and enhancement of Minnesota’s natural resources. For 30 years this fund has financed environmental education, research, acquisition and other projects vital to clean lakes, healthy forests, and outdoor recreation! Funding from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund has been critical to the ability for Minnesota Trout Unlimited to build and expand our education program (including the Trout in the Classroom curriculum) in schools across the state. Environmental partners have also benefited. In fact the ENRTF has funded over $1 billion in local projects for the protection, preservation, conservation, and enhancement of Minnesota’s natural resources. MNTU urges everyone to vote and vote “yes” on this ballot question.
A few things to know:
- Failure to vote on a constitutional amendment has the same effect as voting “no” on the amendment.
- This is not a tax increase- it merely continues the investment of a portion of Minnesota State Lottery proceeds.
- There is a wide support to continue this amendment from partners
- 82% of voters support reauthorization of the amendment
