The Minnesota legislature session ends in less than week and the Outdoor Heritage Fund bill, which supports Minnesota Trout Unlimited’s habitat improvement projects, is still at a standstill in the state House of Representatives.

It’s been a week since our last call-to-action on this issue and the path forward for the Outdoor Heritage Fund bill is still unclear. The bill has not moved out of House committee meetings.

Nearly $190 million dedicated to bipartisan-recommend environmental projects around the state is on the line.

We need you to keep using your voice.

If you haven’t already, please contact your representative in the House and urge them to take action on this bill before it’s too late.

Who to contact

  • Your House representative. Find your representative and their contact information here.

House leadership:

  • House Speaker Lisa Demuth, 651-296-4373, rep.lisa.demuth@house.mn.gov
  • Minnesota House DFL Caucus Leader Zack Stephenson, 651-296-5513, rep.zack.stephenson@house.mn.gov
  • Minnesota House floor leader, Jamie Long, 651-296-5375, rep.jamie.long@house.mn.gov

The bill has traction in the Senate, but it doesn’t hurt to voice your support to your state senator as well. Find your senator and their contact information here.

Your message

Make sure to personalize your message to ensure it reaches your legislator. Be sure to mention why the restoration and protection of Minnesota’s natural resources matters to you.

Here is some guidance to help you form your message:

  • Hi, I am calling for ______(representative/senator)
  • My name is ______and I live in ______(town).
  • I’m an outdoorsperson and I care about ______.
  • Please take quick action on the Outdoor Heritage Fund bill.
  • The Outdoor Heritage Fund is critical to ensuring that important work gets done to protect and restore our natural heritage in Minnesota, while growing our outdoor economy.
  • Keep these voter-approved, dedicated funds working for conservation in Minnesota.
  • Thank you for your service during the 2026 legislative session.
